Social Justice Resources

Social justice is a guiding value of NCDA and represents an ethical commitment to ensure that all people – especially those from marginalized or oppressed groups – have fair access to resources, opportunities, and career development services, and that systemic barriers affecting clients’ well-being or access to education and the labor market are acknowledged and addressed.

Please use social justice resources for self-guided learning, inspiration, and action.

NCDA Continues to Support Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, & Accessibility

NCDA continues to embrace diversity and encourages career development professionals to work to reduce inequities related to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic status, immigration status, religion, and other identities. This means we actively work to create environments where all people feel welcomed, valued, and respected with the ability to participate fully regardless of their identities, backgrounds or abilities. Career development professionals also consider how broader societal forces – such as discrimination, poverty and policies – affect career development. Moving beyond helping the individual, career development professionals aim to understand and respond to the structural context of the clients we serve.
